Thailand on Saturday urged the world’s major powers to use upcoming global and regional meetings to be held in Southeast Asia in November as platforms to discuss solutions for the conflict in Ukraine.

In an address to the UN General Assembly in New York, Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand said the upcoming meetings of G20 in Bali, APEC in Bangkok and ASEAN in Phnom Penh would provide golden opportunities for world leaders to hold direct talks and find solutions to end the war in Ukraine which has affected the global economy, energy and food security.


In his address, Don, who is also the Foreign Minister of Thailand, called on Myanmar to find solutions to its political crisis, and insisted that ASEAN is the best mechanism to coordinate talks and support to end the conflict in the country.

Don Pramudwinai attended the UN meeting instead of Prayuth Chan-ocha, who currently is suspended as Thailand’s prime minister while a court decides a legal challenge against him.
